Sometimes space rock isn't all about the SPACE, as in outer space, but the space between.
The space between worlds, the space between our ears, the space between fantasy and reality (whatever that is). Sometimes it's earthly, existing in mystical woods like the Japanese firefly forest pictured above, the vast oceanic vistas of my beloved Pacific, or the cosmic expanses of the ancient desert stonework in my soon-to-be permanent home of Joshua Tree in the California Mojave (don't worry, I'll still be blogcasting no matter where I lay my weary head). And now that I'm fully vaccinated who knows where we'll go?!?!?
So SPACE ME! And remember, it's still space rock, whether it's the psych-y explorations of the James Gang in the 70s or the House of Love in the 80s or Baliterpace in the 90s. Whether it's the 21st century shoegaze of Nothing or the berserk psych frenzy of Slift. Whether it's the kraut drone of Finland's mighty Circle or Japan's Minami Deutsch. Or the psych-en-espanol of Los Acidos or Lorelle Meets The Obsolete. Or the gorgeous experiMENTAL post rock of Verstarker or Lastryko. Or the psychAmericana of Tulsa Drone or Jackie O-Motherfucker.
Say it with me: It's. All. Space. Rock!!!
